Your Miele has stopped working?

In your country alone, thousands of washing machines are replaced prematurely every year.
This is bad for your wallet and bad for the environment.
If it's a Miele and you read on, you'll see that it might not yet be necessary to buy a new machine.
 

Do you recognise any of the following situations?

• Machine dead, no lights on,

• The machine stopped working from one moment to the next,

• After selecting a programme, the Start light does not flash, and the machine cannot be started,

• Drain pump keeps on running, even when filling with water,

• Machine does not pump off,

• Machine does not let in any water.

• The machine switches off at random and then spontaneously restarts.

• As soon as the drum needs to start spinning, the rinse lamp flashes and the buzzer sounds.
   

Electronic

Unlike older Miele prints, this model of print has a switched-mode power supply. An important feature of this is that it uses less energy.
What's more, this PCB (which is located behind the control panel) integrates the entire control system as well as the software for the washing programmes, whereas in almost all other Miele models these functions are housed in separate modules.

Because these electronics are so compact, the board is more sensitive to moisture and therefore not suitable for bathrooms and unheated rooms.
The effect of moisture can cause corrosion on the PCB, leading to a short-circuit between different signals.
And because the (switched) power supply is integrated on this PCB, contaminants in the power network can also damage the electronics.
 

Repair advice

Naturally, you can arrange for a Miele service technician to visit you.
He or she will replace the PCB. Because the machine is at least six years old (you can find the production date on the label of the PCB), Miele will not accept any compensation. The price of print replacement is approximately €300.00 (+ call-out charges).
Miele provides a one-year warranty on the repair.

You can also ask your local white goods dealer for a diagnosis.
The travel costs may be lower. The price of a new PCB will not.
Various white goods mechanics have also found their way to us, so that they can also offer you a repair of the main circuit board instead of replacing it with a new one.
In that case, do ask about the guarantee conditions. Companies that have the PCB repaired by us can offer a one-year guarantee on the costs of repairing the PCB (the one-year guarantee does not have to cover the mechanic's labour).

As a last resort you can of course also have the PCB repaired directly by us.
Send it to us and pay the repair and shipping costs in advance to our bank account.
In most cases the print-out will be repaired within three working days, depending on the speed of the postal service.

Repair it yourself?
Repairing a double-sided SMD board (Surface Mount Design) is precision work and requires specialist knowledge and equipment.
We therefore strongly advise against trying this yourself and do not supply any loose parts for this PCB.
If you offer us a PCB which you have already tried to repair yourself, you will have to take into account additional costs or the fact that the PCB cannot be repaired at all.

Where can you find the model number of your Miele?
You can find the model number on the type plate behind the door.

How do you dismantle the print (front loader)?

• Pull the plug out of the wall socket

• Carefully pull off the operating button (9)

• Remove the plate (3) by pressing it down (with the flat of your hand or with a wide flat screwdriver in the hole of the button)

• You can then lever the plate out of the upper recess of the plastic chassis terminal (1) with a sharp object without damaging the plate

• Remove the screws (8) with which the electronics (6) are mounted in the chassis socket (1)

• Pull the electronics module out slightly so that the back of the module is exposed

• Disconnect the plugs 13, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 from the main PCB and the keypad (10) (keep the cap on the back of the keypad)

• Leave the keypad and the cables with plugs 14 and 15 in the housing of the PCB.

• Take out the whole housing including the two black cables, the key module and the disk 7

How does it work?

• You send me an e-mail stating the type of machine (W..) and your address.

• I will send you the address to which you should send the printout and the account number.

• You send the module to this address well packaged in a reusable box (don't forget to mention your name and address as sender)

• You transfer the amount and the shipping costs (see prices) to my account

• You will receive the repaired printout back after a few days (except for holidays)

• If repair is not possible, you will also be informed. If you still want the print-out back, you will only have to pay for research and shipping costs (a total of € 35.00 for the Netherlands). Any excess amount will be refunded.

• If you surrender the print for any reason, you will receive a full refund of your payment.

• If the print shows the same defect within one year, it will be repaired free of charge. All you have to do is pay the shipping costs to send it to me. Again, if it cannot be repaired, you will receive a full refund of your original payment on the condition that you surrender the print.

• You let me know by e-mail if everything is in order

¹⁾ The condition is that no repair attempts have been made by yourself or others after our repair and that no external calamity such as a lightning strike or fire has caused damage to the PCB. The reason for returning the print may be that the print has failed again, or that your machine has become unusable for some other reason
